The Arts Project of Cherry Grove (APCG) ended its 2019 season, on September 21, at the Community House, with a “Stonewall Riot” ball, commemorating Stonewall 50. Music was by “Lady DJ” Andrea. Hors d’oeuvres came from Island Breeze restaurant and desserts came from Sweet Licks and Cherry Grove Pizza.
With the community in 1969, theme, there were folks in Stonewall shirts; many flower children and hippies, crossdressing and otherwise; cops; Mets fans; leatherfolk—Bud, Fire Chief Jill, and this writer with original, period lambda t-shirt; but surprisingly, considering both the history and the organization, not many drag queens, save APCG President and Invasion Founder Panzi, Parker and Andi, and Joyce Rodgers.
Kudos go to the Arts Project Board for a hugely successful, enjoyable and of season ball.
