On May 25, Dan Daly, a favorite pianist, began his season of playing in Cherry Grove with a lively night at Sand Castle that drew many who sing with him regularly, here and in the Village. Singing solos, assisted by Dan, were Mike Schaefer (“Bring Him Home, “Nearer”), Jill Conklin (“Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “I’m Not That Girl”), Geri Rukenstein (“When You’re Good to Mama,” “The Rose”), Tony Negron (“My Funny Valentine,” “Sabor a Mi”), Chris Bell (“Mein Herr,” “Fifty Percent”) with Ed, Lee Sharmat (“Big Spender,” “Sentimental Journey”) with SallyAnn Piacentino, Ian as Neil Diamond (“Hello Again”), Malachi Robinson (“Make Them Hear You,” “If I Loved You”), and me (“Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Memory”). Taylor, behind the bar, kept the drinks coming.
