On September 12, just after the Miss Fire Island Pageant, downtown at the Ice Palace, Daniel Nardicio’s fourth annual Spartacus event took place at clothing-optional Belvedere Guest House for Men and the Mr. Nude Belvedere contest, emceed by Nardicio, was its centerpiece, with Kevin, by audience acclaim, beating five other contenders and taking prizes of $200 and a weekend at Belvedere.
Contestants were judged on their posing, stripping, question and answer, and after mingling with the audience, returning to the living room balcony “stage,” displaying erections. Scott and Jackson were semi-finalists and other contestants were Joseph, Mars, and Nathan. Music was by DJ Johnny Dynell. Revelers dressed as mythical figures, Caesars, centurions, and gladiators, or wore little more than laurel wreaths.
