On June 16, the Arts Project of Cherry Grove held its first afternoon tea of the season, with a Caribbean Rum Runners theme, in keeping with Fire Island’s louche past as a pirate haven. The tea took place at Windy Hill, the home of Jack Dowling, and several of those in attendance, including Homecoming Queen Robin Kradles, came in pirate costume. Spiked Hawaiian punch and piña coladas, virgin or with rum, as well as hors d’oeuvres and dips, were served.
