On May 18, to help kick off Cherry Grove’s Leather Weekend and New York City-based Excelsior Motorcycle Club’s 37th Anniversary Lust for Life run here, entitled “Apocalypse MyAss!” the Ice Palace’s singer Porsche and Manager John Doyle hosted a rollicking benefit Master and slave auction, at the Palace, at which 14 assorted Masters and slaves, Tops and bottoms, offered themselves up to the highest bidders. Buyers paid with “Daddy Dollars” and the exchange rate was $1 American equals $10 in Daddy Dollars.
Mr. Eagle NYC 2011 CB Kirby inspired a bidding war between Island Breeze’s Kenny Braun and Belvedere Guesthouse’s Candido Soares, with Candido ultimately paying $3,000 in Daddy Dollars for CB. William Cordero, from Puerto Rico, went for $2,600, while the Long Island Ravens’ Vinny shelled out $2,000 for Adam Brown, from Portland, Oregon, and Cherry’s.
The Bucks Motorcycle Club’s Bob, Mr. North American Bear and Mr. Rawhide 2011 Jed Ryan, the Pocono Warriors’ Web Boy, San Francisco Top John B, Elias from Greece, Mr. Fire Island Leather 2004 Jeff Goodman AKA East Village Stud, Tiger from Washington Heights, Timmy from Portland, Oregon, and Cherry’s, Adam C from Taiwan and Queens, Mr. Ottawa Leather 2003 Doug Connors, and a nearly naked “Mr. Red” Mark Sterling were also up on the block. William Cordero, Adam Brown, and Mark Sterling would compete in the Mr. Fire Island Leather 2012 contest the following evening.
The tongue-in-cheek auction raised $1,000 for Excelsior MC, which will donate it to a Fire Island or Long Island charitable organization, to be determined, of John Doyle’s choice. Proceeds from an event later in the season and from next year’s auction will also go to that charity.
Fifty-seven Leathermen and one Leatherwoman, from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maine, and Maryland, as well as California and Ontario, enjoyed festivities, not only at the Grove Hotel and Ice Palace, but also at clothing optional host hotel Belvedere Guesthouse for Men and restaurants Island Breeze and Floyd’s. Other events included the Atlantic Motorcycle Coordinating Council’s (AMCC) 170th meeting, and a riotous round of cocktail parties, hosted mostly by clubs participating in the run.
Excelsior MC and Connecticut’s Twilight Guard will collaborate on next season’s run in Cherry Grove, which is slated for May 17 to 19, 2013.
