At noon on July 23, at the Community House, Homecoming Queen YaNeeda Dunes, with paint brushes adorning her tiara, cut the ribbon to inaugurate officially the Arts Project of Cherry Grove’s (APCG) two-day “Camp Activities” Art Show.
During the opening Members Reception, APCG President Michael Coffindaffer and Queen YaNeeda made their choices, from among the many participating artists’ works, for special recognition. The President’s Choice ribbon went to “Colorful Mary,” in oil, pastel and pencil, by Neil Gilks, a first-time exhibitor at the APCG Art Show, and the Queen’s Choice ribbon, to an untitled work, in oil on masonite, by Dennis McConkey, incorporating the words caelum, agua, and terrra, for heaven, water, and earth, and inspired by one of his students, a Fire Islander, who had committed suicide.
Patrick Fratellone, Vasiliki Mendler, Stacey Gail, Harold Seeley showing Alienigenus Art, Michael Coffindaffer, Douglas Topper, Larry Crawford, Warren Boyd Wexler, Gimmi Hoffa, Catherine Eckdahl, Sherri Rase of Studio Rase, Lorraine Michels, Michael Fitzgerald, Michael Abdis, John Mansueto, Circe Hamilton, and Renee DeSantis were the others who displayed their creations here.
