Burlesque trio Wild Cherryz and lithe and energetic dancer Maddox Madison were, respectively, first and second prize winners in Cherry’s “So U Want a Job?” contest on May 14, with DJ Stacy responsible for music.
Fresh from “America’s Got Talent,” Wild Cherryz treated us to bumping and grinding in their scanties. “I keep dancing,” Maddox Madison declared, and then she certainly did, following it with “Queen of Denial” and strewing about some kind of white powder, asserting, “Crack is whack.”
There were three singers among the competitors. “I’m only seen in beaver,” sang Alexia Tate, segueing into “Beaver” as a parody of “Fever.” She then offered her tipsy version of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” (“Gotta go back to the bar”). After dazzling with her dance (“I don’t believe in fairy tales”), which included crawls across the bar and the floor, Honey Davenport enthusiastically belted out “Some People,” from “Gypsy.” And tuxedoed Victor Victor assured us, “They’ve got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil.”
Other performers were Auntie K (“You haven’t seen the last of me”) and blonde Cindy Diamonds (“Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” “Moulin Rouge”-style, and “Xanadu”).
The evening also included an appearance by Cherry’s own Sabel Scities, the reigning Miss Fire Island, whose S&M number (“I’ll be the Master, you’ll be the slave”) featured some fierce acrobatics. There was a DJ competition as well.
