Carmen Thomas, known to most of us as Miss Carmen or the Mother of Cherry Grove, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 98, on the morning of August 25. Not long ago, the Grove had a thriving group of nonagenarians that included Rev. Dr. Charles Whipple, Postmistress Jeanne Skinner, Dr. Glen Boles and Miss Carmen. The first three were taken from us in the last few years and now Miss Carmen, born in 1912, joins them. Carmen's son-in-law and care partner Walter B. Quetsch survives her.
