At the only Bella Show of the season, at the Ice Palace on August 8, hostess Bella, assisted by DJ Chuck McTague, presented a lustrous array of stars of the Ice Palace, Cherry's, the Arts Project of Cherry Grove and the Imperial Court of New York.

Bella opened by declaring, "This is my song, this is my night." She invited Annie Scarpa to give us the tally raised at the previous day's Concerned Women of the Grove Breast Cancer Benefit--$57,000 and counting-and Joyce Yaeger, of the Cherry Grove Community Association, Inc., to announce the start of a major fundraising effort to restore the deteriorating exterior and interior of the Grove Community House.

Don Veteramo and Demi-Tasse offered a rap number and Demi returned for a pairing of "I was so right, I was so sure" and "Everyday's a new day." Epiphany, the newly crowned Miss Cherry's, sang "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." Angela Mercy, assisted by Logan Hardcore, was Liza Minnelli, on crutches, doing Beyoncé song "All The Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." Heaven was on hand for a lively Charo selection.

In a song from Kander and Ebb's "The Rink," Empress Anne Tique lamented the lot of a wife and mother who's little more than "Chief Cook and Bottle Washer." Ivanna Cocktail portrayed a woman, clearly lacking in sense of adventure, whose response to exotic invitations is, "In these shoes? ... Let's stay right here."

Between musical selections, Bella shared stories and kibitzed with friends, neighbors, and strangers. She closed the show with signature song "And I Am Telling You I Am not Going," from "Dreamgirls."
