FIP Ventures Will Buy Pines Harbor Properties

FIP Ventures LLC-which consists of Seth Weissman, age 26, managing partner of real estate firm Weissman Equities and a summer resident Fire Island Pines; Matthew Blesso, age 36, president of design award-winning real estate firm Blesso Properties; and Andrew Kirtzman, age 48, journalist, author, and owner of the Madison Fire Island Pines guesthouse-has announced that it is purchasing the commercial and residential properties currently belonging to Eric von Kuersteiner and Tony Roncolli, and formerly owned by the late John Whyte, situated beside Fire Island Pines Harbor. These include the Pavilion disco and the grocery store below it, Bay Bar, Hotel Ciel-formerly the Botel, the Blue Whale restaurant, the gym, clothing store, and other retail outlets and residences. The sale will be completed in March.

Weissman, who lives in Gramercy Park, was named one of Real Estate New York's "Thirty Under Thirty" individuals to watch two years ago, and serves on the Victory Campaign Board of the Victory Fund, dedicated to the election of openly gay candidates, observed, of the Pines and the transaction, "This is a community with some of the most accomplished, affluent and creative figures in the gay community. They demand a high level of services and amenities and we will give it to them."

Blesso, originally from Paterson, New Jersey, and currently living in Noho, said, "I'm thrilled our team is acquiring this storied group of assets. This purchase allows us to employ unique designs and concepts and build upon a great tradition."

Kirtzman, whose credits include political shows "Kirtzman and Co.," on WCBS-TV, and "Inside New York," on New York 1; authorship of books "Rudy Giuliani: Emperor of the City" and "Betrayal: The Life and Lies of Bernie Madoff;" and founding of the Ocean Beach Villager newspaper, later the Fire Island Villager, commented, "The Pines is both a chic international destination and a small town, with its own long-standing traditions. We're intent on preserving the very qualities that make the Pines unique." Kirztman, whose life partner is Kyle Froman, dance photographer and former member of the New York City Ballet, was born on Manhattan's Lower East Side and currently lives in Noho.

More details about the purchase and FIP Ventures' further plans will be released once the acquisition has been completed.
