On September 19, Barbara Dowd held a lovely celebration of life for her partner Lois Fisher, who passed away earlier this season, on May 11. Friends and loved ones gathered on the beach off Sea Walk, where Barbara said a few words and then offered others the chance to share recollections and remembrances. Some people who spoke who known Lois for many years, and others only met her but once. She touched many lives in her time with us here.
After the ceremony at the beach, Barbara took a red wagon toward the water. The beach was plentiful, with the celebration being held at low tide, and Barbara invited all who would like to give Lois to the sea, with rose petals to carry the ashes with them on the waves. Rose petals of many colors, from ivory tinged with pink to shades deepening to the color rose itself, mingled and touched, as Lois had touched all of us. The crystal waves bore the laden rose petals to the ocean and back to shore, as our lives mirror the ebb and flow of the tides.
Many joined together at Geri and Lynn’s afterward for a bit for fellowship and to further share their love. We miss you, Lois!
