Cherry Grove friends and neighbors of Victor Alfieri and Bobbie "Cobra" Scherffius gathered at Cherry's on the afternoon of August 30 to help the beloved couple, together since 1955, celebrate Victor's 80th birthday-on the actual day.
Bobbie's 80th will be next February. Bobbie had bidden us to "wear your brightest colors" and to "keep [the party] a surprise"-and Victor was genuinely surprised, and touched: though we hate to see a strong man cry, the celebration did bring tears to his eyes. Congratulations, Victor, and many happy returns of the day!
