Into the Pines Kitchen contains 200 recipes from 100 contributors, including Pines notables Scott Bromley, Gilbert Parker, and Hal Rubinstein. As a nod to bygone days, the book also features a posthumous contribution from John Whyte, one of the Pines' founders. The book includes original photography of the island from Pines artists William Karam, Mark Lonsbury, and Barbara Sahlman.

Iconic figure Jeanne Gerrodette Skinner, Cherry Grove's Postmistress from 1966 until the present, passed away early on July 3. She was born on January 15, 1917 and had inherited the Post Office position from her mother, Irene Gerrodette, who had served in the post for 45 years. Jeanne's daughter, Gerri (Gerrodette) MacWhinnie, as well as numerous other children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, survive her.
Many of us will remember Jeanne particularly as a good sport, who took naturally to the stage, as she took part in Arts Project of Cherry Grove (APCG) shows, directed by Sal Piro. Sal considered Jeanne his "good luck charm" and cast her as everything from Queen Mother to a burlesque show's Lady Godiva figure, a Rappin' Granny, a "bad to the bone" reform school girl, a Shirley Temple impersonator, and grandmother of a family of monsters in his APCG musicals. She also participated in PAWS (Pines Animal Welfare Society) benefit shows and anticipated returning to the stage at the Community House, on August 22, in Denise Harbin's show "Hollywood Confidential."
Jeanne was a fixture at community gatherings, like Friday chili night at Cherry's and, as recently as June 20, could be seen on the dance floor there, cutting a rug with Marge Cozzolino at Jan Felshin and Edrie Ferdun's 50th anniversary party.
On August 5, 2007, Jeanne's family and friends joined her at Dunetop, a Gerrodette family home built in 1939, for a memorable, slightly belated 90th birthday party, and on August 18, Grove performers celebrated our beloved community member at the Ice Palace in "A Salute to Jeanne Skinner on Her 90th Year!" organized by Sal. At the latter, Jeanne's contemporaries Glen Boles, Carmen Thomas, and the late Rev. Dr. Charles Whipple welcomed her to "the 90+ club" and, at the end of the performance, Jeanne addressed the assembled, declaring, "Actually, I feel young again."
