Into the Pines Kitchen contains 200 recipes from 100 contributors, including Pines notables Scott Bromley, Gilbert Parker, and Hal Rubinstein. As a nod to bygone days, the book also features a posthumous contribution from John Whyte, one of the Pines' founders. The book includes original photography of the island from Pines artists William Karam, Mark Lonsbury, and Barbara Sahlman.

Psychiatrist and stage and screen actor Dr. Glen Boles, of Cherry Grove and Manhattan, who was born in Loma Linda, California on September 14, 1913, passed away in his sleep in the Grove on the night of July 23. He was the long-time life partner of Roland Michely, former President, of the Cherry Grove Community Association, and they lived at Hi-Fidelio, on Lewis Walk, with their dog, Cleo. On June 27, pillars of the community Glen, and Roland as Mathilde von Sluttenberg, were honored as "Mr. and Mrs. Gay Pride" in Cherry Grove's 11th annual Pride Parade.
Glen Boles' films included, in 1933, "Rain Over Broadway;" in 1934 "The Road to Ruin," "Flirtation Walk," "The Quitters," "Babbitt," and "Guilty Parents;" in 1935, "$10 Raise" and "Fighting Youth;" and in 1938, "Clipped Wings." As recently as October 1, 2008, he spoke following a New York Musical Theatre Festival performance of the play "The Road to Ruin" at the 45th Street Theater. He and Roland were often seen at performances given by the West Side Opera Society.
