Grove Stars Roast & Toast Ariel Sinclair for 15 Years at the Ice Palace

June 6, 2009 - Entertainer Ariel Sinclair's colleagues saluted her for her 15 years "of service to the Ice Palace" and mercilessly roasted her as well there on June 6. Sal Piro served as 'Roast Master' and DJ Chuck provided music.
Porsche kicked off the proceedings by singing, "She works hard for the money" to Ariel and saying, "I love you and I'm proud to call you my sister." Beginning Ariel's roasting, Sal offered, "You are an incomparable show business whore" and comic Brad Loekle, commenting on diminutive Ariel's wardrobe, queried, "Is there a child sex slave store somewhere in Ronkonkoma I don't know about?" Other roasters were Gusty Winds, Epiphany and Ginger Snapp, who dished each other almost as much as, if not more than, they roasted Ariel.
Singers Rose Levine and Epiphany serenaded Ariel with, respectively, the Kander and Ebb "New York, New York" and "Wig in a Box," from "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." Logan Hardcore scrambled "And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going," from "Dreamgirls," with Amy Winehouse's "Rehab." Empress Robin Kradles hailed the diva of the hour as Dame Ariel, which she was dubbed at the Imperial Court of New York's Night of a Thousand Gowns in March, and performed a steamy/comic tango in her honor. Ann Phetamine paid tribute to her sister with "Miss Celie's Blues," from the film "The Color Purple." Ginger Moore, a punk vision in black leather and chains, performed Heart's "Barracuda." Dallas Dubois (recently Madonna Manson) was taste itself in Wendy Ho song "Fuck Me." Bastard Amber did a quick skit with Ginger Snapp, who melted down in "Rose's Turn" from "Gypsy." Ariel herself did the final number and invited all the performers on stage to dance with her.
Evangeline read a sweet poem she wrote called "Ode to Ariel Sinclair." Sal presented Ariel with a plaque commemorating her decade-and-a-half at the Ice Palace. And the owners of the Bunkhouse, in Sayville, gave Ariel a photomontage, and a scrapbook, which was signed by everyone in the audience. Touched, Ariel responded, "Thank you so much for all of the love and support you have given me over the last 15 years."
