The New York Times honored Fire Island Dance Festival 14 with inclusion in "The Best of 2008," their annual roundup of the year's dozen top charity events.
Playing the Pines on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19, FIDF 15 features some 40 stars of professional dance companies performing outdoors on a stage specially built and illuminated, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Great South Bay.
This year’s roster of performers already includes: Keigwin + Company, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Karine Plantadit and Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet. Featured are premieres by Armitage Gone! Dance, Danny Tidwell, Jodi Melnick, Angel Feliciano Company, ZviDance and a Pièce d'Occasion by choreographer Christopher Huggins.
All these dance professionals volunteer to perform without pay to salute the work of Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Opening Performance: Saturday, July 18, at 5 p.m. (party at 4 p.m.). Closing Performance: Sunday, July 19, at 5 p.m. (party following). Party/performance tickets, $125.
VIP Sunset Performance: Saturday at 7 p.m. (party following). Besides admission to the sought-after Sunset Performance, VIP tickets ($325 up) include a weekend kickoff party on Friday at 8 p.m., Festival memento, priority seating and program recognition.
