Into the Pines Kitchen contains 200 recipes from 100 contributors, including Pines notables Scott Bromley, Gilbert Parker, and Hal Rubinstein. As a nod to bygone days, the book also features a posthumous contribution from John Whyte, one of the Pines' founders. The book includes original photography of the island from Pines artists William Karam, Mark Lonsbury, and Barbara Sahlman.

|
Beloved Cherry Grove resident Lois Fisher, life partner of Barbara Dowd, passed away on May 11 after a long battle with cancer. An experienced schoolteacher, Lois was also able to teach us all, by example, how to face life's vicissitudes and challenges with courage and dignity.
A dedicated volunteer of the Arts Project of Cherry Grove, she appeared in a number of APCG shows and, though her reputation was neither as a singer nor a dancer, she starred, with flair, in Sal Piro's 1999 "The Last Drag Show," as 'Senator Shoofly' of the 'Association to Ban Cross-Dressing Everywhere,' a narrow-minded Phyllis Schlafly-like crusader, who comes around after her experiences with the people of the Grove. This photo, taken at the APCG In-Town Party last year and showing Lois with Barbara and their dear friend Audrey Hartmann, was one she had said that she liked very much.
Sincerest condolences go to Barbara and to all of Lois' closest friends and survivors. Lois will be sorely missed.
