To cap the Fourth of July weekend, Viva Sexx and Nikki Starr presented "A Sexx Starr Production," a gala, star-studded evening at Cherry's, hosted by Charity, with DJ Susan Levine on sound.
Comic Michele Balan, fresh from her show for the Arts Project of Cherry Grove, introduced "Sexx Starr," observing, "They're wearing a lot of hairspray in there-I can't breathe." Gusty Winds followed her, asking young Louis, an audience member from Washington Heights, how much he had had to drink, inquiring, "Have I started to look like Nicole Kidman yet?" and inducing him to take off his shirt. Gusty also offered some intense "Dreams" and declared, "I am the Warrior!"
The stars of "Sexx Starr," backed by the Sexxolets, Honey Sexx and Angi Starr, proffered a Cher medley consisting of "Half Breed," "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves," and "Dark Lady"-Nikki, sporting a Native American headdress-and a vigorous "Proud Mary"-Viva, with Nikki joining in at the climax.
Charity's hot numbers were "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "History Repeating." Ivana Cocktail insisted she would stay put, because, "No me gusta caminar," and, giving out shots and then nips from a bottle, urged, "Get This Party Started." Demi-Tasse, in love, protested, "The words get in the way" of explaining herself. And Angi Starr, in a Sapphic solo, confessed, "I kissed a girl-I liked it."
