| Miss Fire Island Winners Entertain in Dynamic Show |
by Bruce-Michael Gelbert
|
On August 26, at the Ice Palace, past and present Miss Fire Island titleholders--Miss, Ms., Mrs. and Entertainer of the Year-and friends performed in the annual "Great Balls of Miss Fire Island" show, hosted by Miss FI 2002 Ariel Sinclair, who opened the dynamic evening with a seductive "Let Me Entertain You."
Two weeks before giving up her crown, Miss FI 2006 Epiphany expressed "The Little Mermaid's" desire, fervently singing "Wish I could be part of that world;" despite promises of priceless treasures-"I'll give you stars and the moon"-declared, "I'd rather have a yacht, ... champagne;" and got down and dirty with "When you're good to Mama," from "Chicago." Ms. FI 2006 Demi-Tasse offered a dramatic "Diamonds Are Forever."
Miss FI 2005 Ginger Moore looked delectable as she confided, "I Enjoy Being a Girl," in the number from "Flower Drum Song." Entertainer of the Year 2005 Gusty Winds delivered a suggestive ode to her dentist, "Dr. Long John," who fills more than teeth, and graphically unraveled to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." Mrs. FI 2005 Bella contributed an energetic "Weekend in Havana," her tribute to Carmen Miranda.
Brandon Cutrell, who currently sings the "Miss Fire Island" anthem, sang suavely about "This crazy little thing called love," and his colleague Kenny Holcomb evoked the disco era, singing, "Last Dance."

Miss FI 2004 Dakota Sue went from sleepwear ("Nine to Five") to work clothes ("She Works Hard for the Money") to chic black party clothes ("I Just Want to Dance") before our eyes and indeed danced up a storm. Miss FI 2003 Nikki Starr lamented being left on "The long winding road." Statuesque leggy Viva Sexx, the Millenium Miss FI, assured us, "You know how to love me."
Charity celebrated the 40th anniversary of her coronation as the second Miss FI by noting wryly, about her faux pas, "Nobody does it like me."
